James Nottingham is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an award granted for making outstanding achievements to social progress and development, and is included in the Future 500, a definitive list of the UK’s most forward thinking and creative innovators. He is best-known for creating the Learning Pit, a world-renowned model for encouraging learners to step out of their comfort zone. Formerly a teacher and leader in schools, James created an award-winning, social regeneration project in North East England before starting his own company, Challenging Learning. Today, he employs 30 staff in 6 countries, supporting schools with the development of teaching, learning and leadership. He is author of 10 books about learning, many of which are bestsellers and all of which have been translated into multiple languages.
