[RE]LEARN 2020 - The Learning Innovation Festival

In Christopher’s talk, he will open [RE]LEARN Festival with a provocation on the current state of education worldwide and why there is an urgent need for change to shift from a traditional model, which has existed unchanged for well over 100 years, towards a new learning paradigm.

In Christopher’s words, “Students are currently being prepared for a world that doesn’t exist anymore. The pandemic has disrupted education systems everywhere. Now is the time to unleash a new lifelong learning paradigm for everyone. [RE]LEARN is the online festival where actionable learning innovation is shared and grown among movers and shakers that are positively changing education worldwide.’’

Christopher will introduce the Learnlife Hub; an emerging ecosystem where a new Learning Paradigm is being lived out everyday by its learners. Christopher will discuss how Learnlife Hubs are exemplar communities which demonstrate and inspire change, and that every country or city around the world can open a Hub to influence neighbouring communities and government ministries. In doing so, this will build the ecosystem and momentum for change.

Christopher will prompt us to question; as a learner, where would you want to be? It all comes down to choice, which we the adults, the parents, the professionals, have the choice and responsibility to decide what we want for our learners and kids. Old-school or a new paradigm? Christopher will reinforce that [RE]LEARN is an opportunity for a global community of thought leaders, education leaders, change leaders and learning innovators to unite and take away actionable steps that support meaningful change. At [RE]LEARN, the global online community can choose how they want to participate; as an attendee, a speaker, a Learnlife LEAD (Learning Ecosystem Architect & Designer), Hub Partner or Alliance active contributor. By supporting Learnlife in shaping a new learning paradigm in a free, open-source democratised network, we all can share, learn and support one another to bring about a much needed shift in education.

In this fireside chat, Bryan Gibson; Learnlife Research, Paradigm and Alliance Champion will interview Devin Carberry; Learnlife Learning Director and Learning Experience Expert and Stephen Harris; Learnlife, Co-Founder & Chief Learning Officer for Learnlife, to discuss where the Learnlife paradigm was conceived and how it is being put into action in Learnlife Hubs in Barcelona and elsewhere. Devin and Stephen will also discuss how the wider community can use the Learnlife paradigm to support change in their context.

Learning happens everywhere and in every moment of the day. And a key component for learners to have an enriching learning experience lies in the teachers, school leaders and parents working as a team, to support the learner at the heart of the experience, ensuring there are positive and trusting relationships across the board. In this open conversation, Learnlife Hub directors, Sam and Emma, talk to parents about how they can be involved in the learning experience and why and how we can actively involve parents in the learning process. We are all lifelong learners!

This session will endeavour to challenge people's perception of what online learning is - that they can discover a very powerful 'remote' learning model, built on passion and driven by creativity. The session will be interactive, provocative and creative.

What’s studio based-learning and how it looks like in practice?

In this session, we’ll dive into the studio world, and see examples of how this approach to learning can support learners becoming more autonomous, creatively confident, and technically skilled. 

Joan and Georgi will also shed a light on the creation and development process of Learnlife’s studio model; which consists of a set of thematic labs run by professionals from the industry, and oriented towards hands-on, experiential learning.
