In this Headline Session, Louka will explore the changing landscape of work, learning and society, outlining global shifts and what they mean for our learning ecosystems in an ever more interconnected world. To thrive, we all need a set of capabilities and mindsets that take advantage of emerging opportunities, adapting to integrate and apply knowledge and skills to engage across cultures, domains and languages.

How might a true education for tomorrow’s world not just prepare young people for a job, but rather enable all learners to be highly adaptive for a life of learning and work? How might we consider schools as part of the required societal evolution to become increasingly human and socially and ecologically just?

By thinking of our schools not as factories, but as more akin to forests, with an ecology of ideas, skills, passions and people, we can go beyond our old mental models and return to the most human of elements: connectedness, playfulness, agency and joy. How might we liberate the humans within our systems and create practices where we better connect and communicate, accelerate the development of knowledge, skills and dispositions alongside our young people to create a sustainably developed future.
