From Ideal to Real: Applied Generational Decoding for Enhanced Leadership

All learning trips begin with a simple step. But finding the right and most effective direction for ‘one’s desired destination’ is very much dependent upon all stakeholders’ awareness of the precise departure location or starting point. And this applies to both the individual and team dimensions.
Thus, multi-generational educational organizations wishing to plan strategically, increase employees’ sustainability, foster creativity and maximize synergy require Gen-savvy leaders who can more than ever take off their own generational lens and respond effectively to the needs and motivations of their stakeholders while heading towards collective aims. Ignoring this may lead to project failure right from the start. ‘From Ideal to Real: Applied Generational Decoding for Enhanced Leadership’ provides attendees with a more sustainable, generationally-friendly approach to decision making that favors personal, professional and institutional sustainable growth through enhanced inter-generational collaboration and synergy.
Undoubtedly, every generation displays distinctive beliefs and perceptions that impact upon institutional cultures and affect organizational dynamics (Elmore, 2017; Stillman & Stillman, 2017; Zarra III, 2018; Breiburd, 2020, among others). Equipping employees to thrive as a team, is no easy issue, in particular when research confirms the distinct idiosyncratic nature of GenZ educators with their lengthened pathways into adulthood (Twenge, 2017) and expects them to reach 24% of the workforce in 2020 (Manpower, 2016). This complex panorama is compounded by the fact that the workforce renewal is taking place in the midst of a global pandemic with unprecedented work conditions and that family members have become key partners towards reaching students’ goals
Consequently, promoting synergy in organizations through empathic generational bonding and sustainable leadership becomes crucial to increase collaboration, lower attrition rates and support individual, professional and organizational learning.
This session draws creatively from generational updated theory (from Mannheim 1928 to date) and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. Its objective is to provide attendees through a lively, interactive session, supported with powerful PowerPoint visuals with a practical, easy-to-implement generational approach that favors the creation of positive, resilient workplace cultures through enhanced constructive intergenerational interaction. Participants’ specific take-away will include proven strategies to sustain stakeholders’ motivation along their challenges, tools to avoid generational sticking points and techniques to harness learning potential in a more than ever V.U.C.A world.
