This interactive workshop session will explore how placing wellbeing at the heart of learning communities can transform education. It is aimed at anyone involved in a learning community who is passionate about transforming education so that it meets our current and future needs. Through individual reflection, small group and whole group discussion, participants will draw together key insights and develop an action plan.

Participants will be supported to unpack the implications from existing research, emerging perspectives and on the ground practitioner experience to apply them to their own unique setting. They will develop their own definition of wellbeing and a mental model of what it looks like to place wellbeing at the center of a learning community. This will then be refined into a concise statement of purpose for a learning community with wellbeing at the heart. A model will then be used to identify key stakeholders and the impacts of a wellbeing focus upon them. This will then be used to reflect upon the impact of change, draw out possible barriers and supports, and identify underlying cultural norms and assumptions that are likely to impact upon change making.

Participants will then be challenged to consider other lenses and their implications for placing wellbeing at the heart of learning communities, including: technological transformation; indigenous and first nations perspectives; changing demographics; climate change and biodiversity loss; and systemic injustice. These lenses will be used to refine their insights and action plan.

The session will conclude with participants developing and presenting at 30 second pitch for placing wellbeing at the heart of their learning community.
