Learning How It Should Be

COVID continues to disrupt the educational landscape and every school must respond. The question remains, though, how will schools respond? How do students learn? How do we create environments that promote learning? These are valuable and significant questions.

From a leadership perspective, there are foundational questions which must be answered so that an organization/school can capitalize on this disruptive moment to meet the needs of students in the pandemic, and most importantly, after the pandemic. In designing learning environments for the COVID world, educators must confidently create in the face of enormous pressure to conform to old patterns and habits. As an educational leader of a historic day and boarding school, I have found that change does not come easily. In fact, there is active resistance, despited the obvious need.

This session will explore the resistance leaders face and look at real life motivational examples of people who have led change in other professional areas (e.g., Chris Downey). Our goal will be to inspire and motivate so that we can courageously create Learning How It Should Be.
