In this workshop, educators will step through an interactive and guided planning process that will help them develop choice-based learning experiences and opportunities that will harness student voice, reengage and reconnect their students and help educators cater for the vast and varied individual social, emotional and academic needs their students will face returning to school.
Through collaborative break-out rooms, educators will work with other educators to deeper explore the fundamentals of choice-based education, how it applies and why it’s important before auditing their current education and pedagogical practice and where it sits on a choice-based spectrum. They will use thinking strategies to reimagine their learning environments through a choice-based lense, foresee student needs in this crucial time and what choices and voices they will need to have for their needs to be met. Through this process, educators will develop SMART goals and actionable choice-based learning experiences that will help create a new-normal in their schools, with students’ unique needs at the heart of it.
Educators will leave the workshop with a completed plan they can take back to their schools, teams and fellow educators.
