The Adult Power Cleanse: Why moving From Command-and-Control to Co-Creation is the key to transforming children's lives (and ours)

In this talk, Aaron Eden will share his recipe for transforming education and parenting to produce the outcomes we truly want—by moving from Command-and-control to Co-Creation; from Power-over, to Power-with. He will share his learnings from working with children, parents, teachers, and school leaders around the world, and from building and running transformative learning communities across cultures. Participants will learn how to start seeing the pervasive adult power stances we’ve all been conditioned to perpetuate, and to begin to deconstruct them—in partnership with each other and with the children in our care. And, importantly, how to avoid the pitfall that commonly lead adults to say: “IT doesn’t work”. Concrete practices will be shared to help us make the shift, to see the changes in our kids and our relationships in real time, to begin to weave these practices into the existing structures we occupy, and to be resilient in the face of constant pressure to conform to the authoritarian power structures our schools and communities often expect.
